Oregon is the 33^rd state in the USA; it became a state on February 14, 1859.

The origin is unknown. It may have come from the French word Ouragan (which means Hurricane) and was a former name of the Columbia River.

Oregon enjoys a diverse landscape including a scenic Pacific coastline, the volcanoes of a rugged and glaciated Cascade Mountain Range,

dense evergreen forests and high desert, across much of the eastern portion of the state. Oregon is also the home to Crater Lake National Park.
